Testing FMU/ idle A/F problem
My friend ran 15psi on his SOHC crx with a greddy IC'd kit, but the bad part is that he is using a FMU and refuses to keep the boost under 8psi...
Is there anyway of testing a FMU to see if has gone bad ? The car has a missing link, stock injectors, stock FPR, and FMU for fuel manigment, but the A/F guage is ALWAYS in the green at idle !!! It leans out up top at about 6-7-8psi.. we can't figure out any reason his car would ALWAYS set at RICH RICH at idle...
Also, how can we test the injectors ? He did run them at XXX psi when he had the car running at 15psi, for now he is running 8psi max, but he said once he gets stuff worked out he's going to turn the boost back to 15psi on the FMU !! I can't stop him...

damn, your friend is bout it
well, it is his car. also, if his setup was working good, then good for him, right? if he blows his motor, you proved your point. if it doesn't blow, then that is wonderful...blown motors suck. you probably wont be able to stop him until it is too late, because his turbo setup was working even with a fmu at 15 psi.

Re:Testing FMU/ idle A/F problem
The 15psi and FMU already blowup his D16A6 ( killed the piston scirt ). So he took my advice and swapped in some D16Z6 pistons to lower his compression ( 8.4/1 ), but he didn't get the rotating assimly re-balenced !!! Z6 pistons are dished instead of flat like the A6 pistons, and the Z6 weigh a lot less ( enough that he could tell the difference by holding them )..When the A/F goes to lean ( about 9 o'clock on the A/F gauge ) at about 8psi, I think the only thing getting the motor though it is the 8.4/1 compression...
