So if I were to buy an EJ20 turbo from a vendor on ebay, what would I do for management? Switch up to obd2?

you can convert anything... as long as the old ej20 will accept sensors and such from an ej203

Most Subie guys that do a turbo engine swap end up swapping in the appropriate ecu too, but unfortunately have to rely on afc's and such types to try and add extra fuel. There are a certain few people who are working on obd1 subaru ecu's and early year obd2's to allow reflashing, but my guess is it's going to be a while before you see a fully functioning editor for them.
Upside to subaru EJ engine series: most everything is interchangeable like honda D/B series.
Downside is most jdm turbo EJ swaps require swapping complete engine/engine bay/dash harnesses and splicing a lot of connections.

Well I'd be fabbing the harness anyway, using whatever plugs I cut off an old EX harness. I could also use a chipped p28 to control the motor with Honda distributor guts in the Subie dist or something. The problem I see coming up is the speedometer and getting a Subaru vss to work with the Honda ecu.

Honda Speedo is looking for 2 pulses for every wheel rotation, it's actually pretty simple to modify an ABS ring on an axle to have two teeth, and shmitt trigger the output.

subaru doesn't use distributors. coil packs or COP.

on a thread related item, my p0420 came back. cleared it at work, gonna disable the cel this weekend via dannos laptop, unless some nerd geek knows of a good wireless usb.

Complex is right, except for extremely older subie's they're all waste spark COP designs.

Disable that p0420 and the stupid cat efficiency code will never bother you again.
