The 5 speed tranny are interchangable.
As of the auto there`s a few guy over HT tried to use 6G auto tranny on 5Gs, result is that the tranny would not shift by itself, instead, you will need to "manually" shift it up and down with ur shifter LOL

I remember reading on some Hyundia forums about these guys with automatics that actually drove them like they were manuals letting off the gas and all and they said it was just like having a manual.

they wont work since the trannys are different due to the ....>>electronic overdrive that the 96-00 civics have... if you look both trannys the 92-95 have two soleniods on it while the 96 civic has 4 solenoids...
