Here are two mods for the commonly used Freescale 2.5 BAR MAP sensor and a newer 4 BAR MAP sensor.


First the 2.5 BAR.

An adpater made from 1/2" aluminum and a 90 degree 1/8 NPT to barb fitting was used so the source could be taken where the old MAP sensor was.




This one is one that wasn't finished. JB-WELD action .




A firewall mounted honda MAP sensor donated its housing so that the stock harness would not have to tapped into or modified.




2.5 BAR soldered, installed, and plastic epoxy was used to seal and secure the 2.5 BAR to the stock housing housing.




Installed and painted black for HMT stealthness.







Now to the 4 BAR.

Here it is. Just a WARNING to you all. The pin arrangement on this sensor is listed incorrectly everywhere on Freescale's website and PDF file. They list as SSOP, BUT it is not. The pin spacing is 0.050". SSOP uses a 0.025" spacing, so this is actually SOIC WIDE spacing. Only problem is that 8 pin SOIC WIDE is not a common pin arrangement. 8 pin SOIC NARROW is, but it won't line up at all. You could order a 16 pin SOIC WIDE adapter, but you would need to solder the sensor in the middle pins 3-6 and 11-15 and break off the ends since it won't fit in the stock MAP sensor housing.




Stock MAP hollowed out and the sensor soldered.




All finished. The same plastic epxoy was used to fill in and seal the cover, since you would've had to cut the rivets that normally hold the cover down. Comparison of the size of the sensor.

Here are the part #'s for the SOIC sensors. You can get these sensors from any Freescale distributor.

The two part numbers are the same sensor, it's just how they package them. "T1" is for Tape and Reels and "U" is for Rails.

That's a pic installed on my car now. The white epoxy was also painted black.
The wiring harness is long enough to mount it on the firewall using a longer hose of course. I might do that and use some black hex screws so they are less noticeable.

wow i just checked the freescale website and they've listed that sensor for 58 psi. so that means its good for upto 44psi . good goin
