Broke my ------- axle, why?
Today I got everything together and took the eg with the LS in it for a test drive, drove good, then I got to my friends house and went to do a first gear pull from a stand still, SNAP, broke the passenger side axle @ 3000rpm, i'm so pissed right now, the axle didnt snap, it just came apart inside the boot, I picked all 3 bearings up off the road and will see if I can repair it tomorrow, if not i'll have to buy a new one. What could have caused this?
wrong axle? if u used one to short it gives it a lot of play where it doesn't want it. my friends h22 eg is like that sometimes. check for leaks while the axle is in.. it should sit nice and tite

. sounds like the axle may be a little bit too short. if you fix the axle and it does it again its definatly too short

Whoever made up the myth about the 94 and up axles is fucked in the head, how could 2 cars with similar engines and the same chassis use different axles?
So to all who will be attempting this swap in the future, 90-93 axles are ok, engine mounts will be a bitch.
I will have a full detailed writeup of this swap, with maybe some pics as soon as I work out all the bugs, because half of the things people say you must do are Bullshit, like
A: you dont need the B18B hydro tranny unless you want it
B: you dont need to purchase the cable to hydro conversion, you can easily convert to cable by using your stock clutch pedal bracket and the clutch pedal from the 90-93 integra (full detailed writeup coming soon)
C: 90-93 axles are fiine.
D: The shift linkage and shifter rod off the 90-93 may be used, but needs to be extended by 1" (if you know how to weld, there is some money saved right there)
E: The VSS on the 90-93 tranny is a cable, people often will tell you that you need the 94+ tranny because the VSS is electronic, well the gear on the VSS that is driven by the transmission is the same weather its a cable or electric, so all you need to do is take off the old VSS off the civic tranny and attach it to the teg tranny.
Oh yeah, I DID repair that axle, it was actually the CV joint that fell apart due to wheel hop and the engine sitting too low on that side, got a new CV boot and its holding up so far, been driving on it for a while today.
