Default REV LIMIT 4K, HELP?

Alright guys, I've had my civic for about 2 yrs now. I have a D15b7. I changed the timing belt probably about 500 miles ago 8 months ago (don't drive it much). I'm pretty sure the timing is right. But now my rev limit is at like 4k instead of 6500, and it seems to fluxuate between each drive from 4k to 6k? Does anybody know what it can be, Please all help is needed Drags is Friday?

Thanks
J

my ecu was doing the same thing... it's called limp mode, for what ever reason? the car is running in a pre set factory safe-guard setting so that it won't hurt itself. read up on how to reset the ecu and as long as the problem is fixxed then you should be back to normal

Pull the 7Amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood. Keep it out for a minute or two and it should clear the ECU.

Alright guys I have tried it, It didn't work but I'm leaving it off for a while maybe that will work, if the 02 sensor is not connected could that be causing it.

o2 sensor not being plugged in shouldnt casue this? But try plugging it in and see what happens. If it doesnt fix it, beat on your catalytic converter with a rubber mallet and see if you hear anything inside it. Sounds to be like you a restriction in your exhaust? (That is if you still have a cat?) If you dont have a cat, then i dunno waht it is? But once again thats what it sounds like

Alright guys I reset my ecu yesterday and I started my car before the drag races last night, and rev limit was back 6500k, on the way over there it drop back 2 5500k, I'm guessing the ecu picked up that there wasn't an 02 Sensor and try to fix it again, I ran really shitty times last nite also 17.74, there is nothing in my car except seats. So that sux, a friend told me that the 02 sensor is one of the sensors that determines how much the air/fuel ratio is and that would make my car run slower, besides that I don't why it would, I have CIA and 2.5 mandrel bent catback exhaust, Dc header, hyper ground kit, Don't worry I am going to run boost, I just wanted an ET before applied. Guys tell me what is up with my car.
Thanks,
J

try plugging o2 sensor up. Yes the o2 sensor determines how much fuel to send into the motor. But i figured if it didnt get a signal from the o2 that it would run REALLY rich, which shouldnt cause you not to be able to redline? But try plugging it back in, and see what happens, if that doesnt help, check your catalytic converter

I think you have a ground problem, or your distributor is loose/on it's way out.
