The only person I know of on this site that filled their sleeves was Beau (BLACKSI) and that was in his racecar. Personally I would trust block filler over blockguards and block posts but thats only an opinion.

Sure its safe and its not to hard. The best way to do it is when the block is out of the car. You will need to fill 1/2 to 3/4 of the coolant jacket up with Salt (you dont want block filler at the bottom of the sleeve otherwise the pump wont flow any coolant) Basically the salt just acts as a temporary base. Then dump in your epoxy/block filler ----, I'd probably fill it up about 5mm under neith the top of the deck. Let it dry for a good 24hours. Then drill holes in the block filler to match the head gasket (for coolant flow) Remove the drain plug on the front side of the block and flush all the salt out. It's really better to have the block out for this so you can get all the salt out, and do it with the water pump off.

Heres an example

If the salt wasnt there and you poured the epoxy/block filler in, it would go straight to the bottom of the cooling jacket and block all coolant flow. The salt acts as a Base so the epoxy can dry first, then you flush the block out and get all the salt out. This will leave you with a nice channel/coolant passage underneith the block filled portion of the block. Otherwise if the block was completely full of that ----, no coolant would get to the head, and the water pump would get no coolant to the block.

how good does this work is it compareable to sleeving the block in the amount of abuse the block can handle

Sleeving is by far the best.

I have only seen this done on drag set ups friend of mine did a couple b16's w/ this stuff back in the day 350+ whp b16's. If you plan on sitting in traffic a turbo motor is bad enough let alone this so I would say a negative
