Default how do u retard timing on d16a6...?

i dont want to sound like a noob, but when u do it...do u rotate the distributor, or what...i have looked at some how to's, but the dont explain enough.....i mean, they explain undo the 3 bolts that connect the distributor...then turn , with timing gun attached to 1st spark plug wire, until the timing u want is acheived....so what do i rotate? they dont show a picture...

Your on the right track. You loosen the 3 bolts on the distributor which will allow you to rotate it. Clockwise retards, and counter-clockwise advances. Just use your timing gun, and make small moves.

What year/model? you may need to jump the service connector.

When you say clock wise and couter do you mean to retard turn it towards the front of the car or the firewall? I thought it was to the firewall to retard and front to advance.
