Default Which ECU form OBDII to I

I am going to look into ecu modding but am confused on the ECU to get. I have a 96 CX with a D16Y7 NON-VTEC. I was told P28 but that looks like its for a VTEC car. Can I use that without a CEL or should I get a P06. Thanks in advance.

On the same note can someone give me a list of what I need to buy(with part numbers)to socket the ECU or at least a link to where there is one.

If you *NEVER* plan to slap a VTEC head on that beast, then get a P06.

Otherwise, get a P28, and disable VTEC in the code until you to get a VTEC head.

Thanks for the response. I am not confident I could do all the work needed to chip the ECU. I dont know how the prom burning works. I have read it but it looks like I will have to buy some type of burner tool. After that do I just plug my laptop in using the serial port or do I have to remove the chip everytime I adjust things? On the other hand I am confident I can do the hack. Maybe for my first turbo I will do that becasue I fully understand how it works and how to install it.

Well it's up to you. It also depends on the ammount of boost you plan on running. You'll most likely be having to remove the chip and re-burn it everytime you want to change something. You could use a ROM-ulator with your laptop, but that will require quite a bit more time, money and knowledge to do.

...unless you're using TurboEDIT, TM. HA!

No, the AFC hack will be fine for your first setup. Have at it. Then, progress from there.
