Default basemap or blank chip?

i have decided to go obd1 on my 89 civic si. lsvtec turbo. i am in the process of ordering a chipped ecu from -------------. but it asks if i want a basemap, or no basemap(blank chips). i plan on having them tune the car as soon as i can. so should i order the computer without a basemap. will it run with no basemap until i get it to the tuner. sorry this is my first chipped ecu experience, dont know much about the chipping thing yet. i heard that basemaps are not the best way to go since it is not from my exact application. thanks.

xenocron's basemaps are awesome! i would definately recommend one of his basemaps until you get it tuned.

Unless you have a chip burner, you'll need one with a basemap. Otherwise you will have to tow the car to the tuner, where they will put a basemap onto the chip, and then tune it.

Basemaps make it run, and then they tune it.
