Default will this work? (d16y7)

ive found a 50k mile Y7 to go into my 98 ex (i know the Y7 is not vtec)
should bolt right up right (it is OBDII)?
will i have an ecu problem since it isnt vtec or do i just not use the plug?
or should i just use the bottom and use my head, dist, manifold etc.?
i can get the whole motor for 375 shipped for the 50k motor or just a bottom end for 150 shipped (has 100k on just the bottom).
NEED ADVICE QUICK!
THANKS

I would personally use the bottom end and hybrid that bad boy out. I don't think the price is all that terrific either. Just my .02

what's wrong with your current engine? if your bottom end is bad, i would do like quadnie suggested, just buy the y7 bottom end and make a 'mini-me', it will be cheaper and better than buying the whole y7.

but what about the price. Don't you think a disposable D should be cheaper then that??

cheaper than 150 shipped for the bottom end?
and they are giving me 120 day warranty with unlimited mileage
same for the whole motor for 375 shipped
should i be scared of a 100k y7 bottom?

and damn....thanks for the fast response guys!

150 shipped doesn't get much cheaper than that, you figure about 60 of that will be shipping, so 90 bucks for a complete bottom end just b/c they're 'disposable' doesn't mean they're free.

well I was confused when you said long block and then started talking about another bottom end with different milage.

I would say that $150 shipped with a fat warranty on a d16y7 shortblock is a fair price.. I just don't really agree with the whole motor for $375 - especially since it's a non vtec block.

Is the d16y7 as strong as say a d16a6/z6/y8??
