its a small block chevy 400... bored to 409ci right around 500hp if its running right. its hard to tune a double pumper carb perfectly with a big cam and when the weather is so different all the time.

i ran 13.4 on street tires and missing 3rd and 4th. put it this way. 13.4 @ 94mph!

the shifter linkage on it is all fucked up and worn out so its hard to find gears... i adjust it and then after two runs its back to fucked.

but with streets tires i launch at idle and don't floor it until i'm in 2nd. i ran 60foot 2.2sec 13.4 @ 95mph, shouuld be 13.4 @ 110 or higher. the car would run 12.5 with slicks and not missing gears... i ass raped a 90s style supercharged mustang gt, well not raped but he had slicks and ran 13.7

sweet ride man...this takes the cake though...i know this guy that lives near me with a turbo vr6 gti that i saw run an 11.3 without third gear at all..he spun first, second, and then fourth (we thought he was spinning 3rd until he told us later) with slicks....it was sick...he ended up running a 10 something

oh and i have a friend with a supercharged 90s style GT, he ran a 9.99 and an 11 something w/o the vortech

To get back to the poor guys question, I recomend a Garrett T3 turbo .48A/R exhaust .42A/R compressor. You can get one from almost any salvage yard in the world, they are stock on SAAB 900 and 9000 and Volvo 240 and 740. This is a bullet proof turbo that is inexpensive to purchase new or used(i can get you rebuilts for $350)and will make boost from 5 to 30 psi with not a lot of lag. If you want a bigger unit get the T3 from the turbo Tbird, it`s a .60 AR compressor with a .48 AR exhaust, almost as big as a T3/T4. Be carefull buying a used Tbird turbo, the exhaust housings crack badly.

im going supercharger just cuz a downpipe of any size to it whatsoever wont fit in my car(cuz its salvaged, front crossmember is moved back towards the engine). but i would have to agree, turbochargers are probably better. i plan to get the vortech supercharger, but without that lil cooler thing, thats way to expensive.

Turbos are better, turbos make more hp than superchargers. Its a fact, superchargers take hp to turn. You know what happens when you put a turbo on a top fuel car? It blows up, they haven found a block strong enuf to take the horsepower produced by a turbo top fuel car. Turbos are also against nhra rules in top fuel.

dane, dont be a puss, just because your member is a little bent shouldnt make you go with a supercharger. lol, Modify it, or make a new one.

i've seen twin turbo full blown dragsters... yeah the ones that go 4 seconds. it was slightly slower than the supercharged & nitrous dragsters... but maybe will more experience by the team they could make the twin turbo faster... cause no one really uses them.

when you said supercharged take hp to run, what do you think a turbo is doing while its spooling up... taking horsepower away. more than a supercharger, cause a supercharger makes quick power. turbos have to build boost therefor not making full potential until whatever rpm... whereas a supercharger could make full po almost instantly...

the superchargers on top fuel motors take 800 hp to spin...it was in a magazine once...and once a turbo spools, it is no longer eating hp, while a supercharger is always dragging on the motor
