Well make sure your cable is hooked up correctly and another thing I thought about after we straightened your timing issue was, what timing belt are you trying to use? The z6 belt and stock DX belt have a different number of teeth on them. I beleive the DX belt has less teeth and will cause the belt to be too tight after putting tension back on it. It will whine and possible snap if thats the case. Try to use a belt that came from the engine you took the head off. In other words of your using the z6 head, use a z6 timing belt.
