Weird honda motor

Default Weird honda motor

I saw a weird honda motor at the junkyard today, the intake manifold was apart and I noticed it had 8 runners, and 4 of them had butterfly valves. What the hell is this system?

88-89 lxi/sei accord had those too, same with GSR and some H22 i believe

The technical name is IAB (Intake Air Bypass). You've got long runners for low-end grunt, and then at a certain RPM, the short runners come into play. Nice find....
