Voltage regulator swap for B series alternator
I remember reading somewhere that you can swap the voltage regulator from the b series alternator to the d series one. I have a seized up b series alternator and a working d series one. Dont really feel like spending $165 for a new one. Anyone know anything about this?
seriously, i thought it would be like $60 for a honda.
Apparantly you can use a d series one. I remember reading something before where dude needed a new alternator. He was obd II and needed to swap the voltage regulator from an obd I alternator for the harness to plug in. A d series one will fit with a little modification on a b18A. i had to grind where the alternator where it slides into the mount on the block. I also had to grind out the stock bracket on the top, it would allow enough tension on the belt. Got no spark now though.. Im pretty sure its the distributor though.
