Can someone tell me what they do? or direct me to a vacuum lines 101 or of some sort. I want to understand completely what they do in terms of running a vehicle. I know they're bunch vacuum lines from intake mani and just everywhere.. and I want to know what they do in terms of boosting and connecting to gauges? egh.. help please.

Re: vacuum lines
Im not really sure what you dont understand so ill start from the beginning. When the throttle body is closed and the engine is still running the engine is sucking air that the trottle body is not allowing it to have which creates vacuum. The vacuum lines can go lots of places. The can power the cruise control, brake booster, as well as bull gasses from the crankcase. There are many other uses as well including emissions which can get a bit more complicated. If you have a vacuum diagram it should make things alot easier to understand for the motor you are working on. In a turbo setup we use the vacuum/boost from the intake to control our blowoff valves and wastegates. Most people use a boost gauge to monitor the ammount of vacuum or boost. Im sure that you knew most of this and i didnt really know where to start but i hope that helped.

Am I the biggest noob or what? Thanks.

If you don`t understand how vaccum works then obivously do not completely understand how an engine work, start from there.
