Re:trans teardown
there are detent ***** you will need to remove ( a few on the side, you will see the bolts, and there are ***** and springs behind them). also, on the end of the trans there is a big cap you need to unscrew, underneath it there is a clip you will need to ------ as you seperate the halves....i think i said everything but im not sure

Re:trans teardown
If i can remember from when i pulled mine apart with onlya chiltons.
There is a "plug" that fits a 3/8" ratchet, undue this and there is a cercip inside on the main shaft, undue this. You also have to then crack it open as far as you can and stick your fingers in and remove the reverse mechanism. Then it should come apart.
There is a special way to get it back together, since you can stick your fingers in and put back in the reverse, but i forgot.

Re:trans teardown
the haynes manual is pretty lame but in the 88-91 civic/crx ones, it actually shows the tranny break down. go get it or go sit @ the auto store and read it. anyway...you'll get that dam tranny done. oh yeah..by the way....the jdm zc trans WILL need a mid half shaft. and the axles will have to be integs. the sohc axles will NOT fit...they are a little smaller in diameter. but you can change the inner cups of the sohc axles to 90-91 integ cups to run the off beat, 1 short, 1 long axles. but i'd suggest using the half shaft and the equal length axles...its larger. just a thought.
