Tranny took a dump...

Re: Tranny took a dump...
yea, I uploaded the pictures, and guess I never posted it.. O well, it looks lake scuffed up bearings, with no shell, and no roller/spacer thingies... (technical term?)
I used a buttload of brake parts cleaner, a air nozzle, and a magnet picker upper thingie... Got her pretty clean.
Im gonna put it back together, and then go looking for a backup transmission, as this one already has over 200,000...
PS: (I guess this is what I get for trying to save a buck)

(I posted this on another forum)
I tried installing the new bearings a few hours ago, and um.. they're too small.
They're listed as part 207 on Advance's computers (and on the box/bearing)...
So I called back today, and read the numbers off my old bearings... which they said matched part 208 (listed for an automatic transmission)... Idiots!! (no offense Keith, but your computers are gay.)
So the new-new (hopefully right) ones will be in tomorrow, and We'll see...

Re: Tranny took a dump...
well, hopefully I can find a backup to replace her soon anyway. I just dont want to dump a bunch of money into this one, and still not do it right (Right would be new synchros, bearings, seals, everything.. ) and I dont have the time/experience yet to take on that task.
I think Ill just put this one back in, and find a lesser mile tranny as a spare.

Re: Tranny took a dump...
Ok,
Got everything in, and working yesterday... went to supper, came back (brian was gonna help me put it in the car)...
So its going on 8pm, and we're making sure everything is correct before putting the case back together... and we find this:
Apparently, when I was test fitting for the shim earlier in the day, I was tightening the case down, and it wouldn't seat correctly... I decided it was the new diff bearing that needed to press itself into the outer casing... so I keep torquing the bolts little by little, when all of the sudden, SNAP... (from inside the transmission (I had at the time assumed it was only the snap-ring seating, as that was the reason the case wouldn't fit correctly), but it was the bearing that the snap-ring seats on /\ that cracked. (I know, im an idiot for forgetting to seat the snap ring).
Anyway, It was too late to order a new bearing (8pm), so I called hondapartsunlimited in arizona, and they said they would ship one out in the morning and be here Saturday... So I ordered it. (setting me back two more days)...
I figured, hell, why not call appletree honda this morning, and see if by some odd chance they had the bearing... and guess what? They DiD :woot
I went and picked it up, pressed it in, and just finished putting the tranny back together.. YEY!! If all goes well, its going back in the car this afternoon.
