did you tightent the pressure plate to spec? cause if you do it too tight, the throw bearing will have no use. the clutch will always be ingaged. then...if you want your car NOT TO SHUT OFF right after you start it...you'll have to hold in the clutch. other wise it'll just stall rite at after the start.we also had a similar problem with a dohc zc in an si rex. it was the clutch cable. just my 2 cents.

over-tightening the pp to the flywheel wouldnt make the clutch engage all the time...it sits flat against the flywheel where it gets bolted on, over-tightening wont bring it any closer...unless im not understanding what youre saying
