timing belt questions
i was curiouse about installing a timing belt i was looking through a manual i downloaded and noticed they had the crank pully removed to put the belt on...is it possible to install the belt without removing the pully...and will a d15b2 timing belt work on a d16 ..im buying a new belt i was just curiouse

D16 belt does not fit a D15
you can do it with the crank pully on but you need to know what exactly you are doing. match the timing mark with the TDC mark and the pointer on the block cover. but i`d say it is a LOT easier with the pully off.

the reason i ask is iit is probably hard to remove the pully while the engine is in the car and i dont really have the experience with stuff like that....should i try installing the belt with the pully on or give it a wing and try to pull off the pully

see i dont have to take the belt off because i bought a new head im installing with the new belt ...the old head had bent valves due to a broken timing belt...if this would matter or help you guys answer my question

right you dont have to remove it to take off a belt, just cut it.
but to put it on..
the crank pulley has to come off first, so the lower timing belt cover can be removed.
make sure you loosen the belt tensioner or unhook the spring.
read the service manual or haynes/chilton ones.

It's a writeup for a B engine, but it's pretty much the same thing (minus one cam) Between that and a manual, you should be able to figure it out...
