Default tear down

ok with the new baby on the way i have about a week and a half of paid time off and i wanna tear down or atleast analyze the problem i have with my zc. all winter long my car would not get hot. temp guage buried. i thought it was a bad t stat. nope its ok. was a dx w/ ac took it ALL out so the rad was in direct contact with subzero winds on my 50 mile oneway commute. i put a pice of cardboard in front and it would get warm not hot. now would a result of ice cold coolant running over a hot head cause it to warp and give mr extremely low compression. 126 95 123 97. problably warped huh. is there any way i can check the block and head for warpage when i tear down. it hasnt ran for quite some time now. i know a rebuild is absolutly necessary. ive heard of dual stage leak down compression testers. how do you read them and how determin if it is the valves rings or head gaskets.

if its that bad pull the head and use a straight edge to check the head and block for warpage.
if thats fine you're getting too much coolant flow or your sender(s) is/are fucked.

First thing a blown headgasket will overheat like tomorrow and if you drive on it for awhile it will sound like a dirt bike and you will cake the hg to the deck/head been there done that. Also your oil would be full of water. Take your thermostat and throw it in a boiling pan of water if it doesnt open theres your problem.
