Stay D or go B?
I currently have a 5th gen hatch that I swapped a D15B vtec into but I have found a complete B18B for sale cheap enough that it is almost a stright swap money wise to go B(I have a buyer for my D-swap). I have a WRX TD04, DSM inj.'s and a couple of IC's and I was going to turbo the D. Now I can sell the D and go B and work on turboing the B. Make sense? Will the TD04 be too small for the B18? Is it worth it? This is my daily and I'm looking for the most reliable setup while still making good power. My D-swap is mint, has an LSD trans, and runs very nice. The B will be a peg legged trans but otherwise is in very nice shape(so I'm told). Dammit I'm confused.

Re:Stay D or go B?
I'd jump on the 1.8 and I'm a diehard D series fan also. Those 1.8's make some nice torque. You can always slap a VTEC head on it.
You should also sell me your old D series tranny. Seriously...... __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |

Re:Stay D or go B?
Well, the D15 is about as shitty as it gets. The VTEC head is nice, but it's still a 1.5 with undersized crank journals and pencil dick rods.
The B18 is just the opposite. Beefy rods and a larger displacement, along with a better flowing head and the capability to covert to an LS/VTEC. I love my D series motors, but they don't have the potential of a B. I've recently came to this realization. :-\ __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |

Actually the d15b jdm vtec motors rods are much thicker than the usdm 1.5 rods.

Re:Stay D or go B?
As hard as I've been trying to switch to B series to "test" them out, I still have plans for two D series motors just sitting here while the B series gets finished. Conclusion= B series costs alot of money (to do right) :-\

Re:Stay D or go B?
I boosted the ---- out of a D15B7 with an AFC and never blew a rod. I'm sure I was making over 200whp. I guess I was lucky. We'll see how lucky I am with the next one. 8)
