well when i spun my bearings on my D16z6. I opened the filler cap. And there was like oil vapor/steam coming out of it. You think i might have to replace the rings on the pistons?

 

Some vapor in the V/C is normal. But if you've gotta tear the motor down anyway, may as well re-ring it while you're at it.

 

you might also have bad or incoorectly installed valve stem seals. I had that problem for a while, replace pistons and ring and did not check the valve seals until this last rebuild I decided to upgrade my valve train and discover that the shop I took it to the first time installed the exhaust valve seals on the intake, and intake seals on the exhaust, I was pissed to find that out knowing that I paid for that $40 euros per seal

 

Hookup a catch can and see how much blow by your getting.
