Default running problem

i seem to have a problem with the motor i recently put together and put in my car. i never noticed until i wanted to floor it and see what it could do. well the problem is that when it gets to about 5000 rpm it dosent have any pull left and would only go to about 5700 and wouldn't go any further. i changed the timing and it helped a little now i can get to about 6000 rpm before it wont go any further. any ideas?

my set up is a dohc jdm f22b with a h23 ported and polished head on it

thanks for the help
