Default problem with y8 intake manifold swap- running rich

i swapped my IM out for a y8 one this weekend, it seemed to go pretty smoothly even though since i was using only a bare manifold i had to fabricate a lot of parts (ie a bracket to hold the throttle cable, iacv electrical hookup, drill into bottom plate, relocate IAT sensor, run a T for a coolant line, etc...) but when i start it up, only problem i'm getting is i'm running really rich, and missing a little. A/F sensor is reading the last green LED (way rich), and not only does it smell rich but it is smoking real bad, filling my garage w/ white smoke. what would cause it to run rich like this w/ only a new intake manifold? is the smoking related to having a cleaned-out manifold w/ no carbon or oil deposits? i'm hoping resetting the ECU will help a little, what else should i try? i just can't understand how a new IM would make it run richer...

I did relocate the IAT sensor (back bottom right of the b7 IM looking from front of car, a white plug w/ a white probe sticking out of it). i drilled into my CAI and plugged it here using the original gasket and RTV sealant- the liquid gasket stuff. i know for a fact it isn't leaking, but could the new reading be different than the way the original sensor would read (since now it's b4 the throttle body instead of after it)?

I have my IAT sensor set up like that so it shouldn't be a problem. Is the ECU throwing any codes? Check the voltage on the TPS or maybe its a bad map sensor.

agree i think its a tps problem, either is not hooked up (vac line) or not plugged in

Sounds like a coolant line is where a vaccuum line should be.

no what it is is the coolant passage that goes thru the head isn't sealing... i just took the intake manifold back off and sure enough, traces of coolant in #4, and just #4. i've looked at the haynes manual enough to know that i'm 100% positive my coolant/vac lines are right on the money. i dont know what to do about it, i got the y8 gasket that matches up to the bigger hole but it still has a tiny spot where it overlaps... i'm gonna be so pissed off if i cant get it to work, i spent a whole day fabricating the parts to make everything mount up right.

i'm thinkin maybe put a bitchload of rtv sealant between the head side of the coolant passage and the manifold just making a circle around the coolant passage and hope for the best...

Make sure the head surface is CLEAN, all the old gasket is removed all around the studs, and the manifold has to be clean as well. A little rtv is ok, and be sure to tighten the manifold bolts from the middle out. And overtorque them if you want, I always do =)
