how many º is your timing set at? it should be at 10º check to see if you cocked your tps sideways also. if those are off you'll keep fouling plugs. you can set it back to like 9º-8º since its an fi motor but it wont idle as well as 10ºbtdc. What was the problem with your compression before?

the plugs were brand new. i think its from running lean man.. even if my timing was off by ilke 5 degrees i dont think it would create the problem of feeling like im running on 1 cylinder. it runs exteremly bad. and when i try to bring it up to 3k rpms it cuts out. so im thinking fuel. but yea, the spark timing was correct.

if it was running lean your plugs would be white. If your plugs are black they are most likley fouled. You can foul a sparkplug in 10 seconds. doesnt matter if their new or not. cranking your car over with out it starting and things of that nature are what fouls plugs from the extra gas. hell, you can foul plugs from the car just running badly.

i said they were brand new because u called them "old spark plugs". and i was just letting u know so u could take it into consideration. But anyways.. u thinnk the spark timing being off could resut in the:

1.) no power

2.) poor idiling

3.) engine shaking

4.) car sounding like a harley motorcycle

???

Thanks again.

2.) poor idiling yes

3.) engine shaking yes, if your idol is low enough

If your car is not firing on 3 cylenders its because the plugs are fouled. or they're not getting any gass. (wich they wouldent be black if they wernt getting any gas) and if they were just getting alittle gas the plugs would be white to do the gas being able to burn out because of the extreamly lean condition. Their's one ignition coil and it fires all of the cylinders. They all should be fireing unless your plugs are fouled or you have the plug wires ran wrong. do you have the wire order right? did you change those plugs? Fouled plugs will not fire at all. just trying to help you out. because ive been there.

so if ignition timing was off just a few degrees it would make my car run soo poorly its not even drivable. because thats how it is.

if its realy retarded yeah. and you wont burn the gas you need to burn and it will foul your plugs. you'll foul your plugs if your tps is cocked to hard clockwise too. but change or clean those plugs up and double check your wire order and see if she runs any better :)

checked the plug order, and wires are in order. i just took off the valve cover and distributor cap to my moms celica (same engine) .. and cranked my engine to match her cam positions. my distributor is exactly where hers is.. tested spark plugs and they all are firing. any suggestions?
