Default "puff" of smoke

Ok here the deal; Everytime I start the car a little puff of white smoke comes out of the exhaust and just I finished rebuilding my engine. Its weird because I just niticed that after 200 miles of so. Its only during start up and wont last more than 8 seconds. I think its the vavle stem seal, which where replaced but I need more input. I replaced the vavlve seals my self but I dont know if I did correctly anybody have any guesses? I dont feel like breaking down the whole motor again but if I have too I will, but I dont wont to so help me out. thanx

obviously this is a stupid question. But sometimes the simpilest things are over looked.

1. Did u use a NEW head gasket?
2. did you tighten the head bolts down AS PER HELMS?
3. are u sure the head gasket isnt upside down?

Yeah I have a brand new head gasket the Mr.Gasket MLS for a D16Z6 (I have a D16A6). The headgasket didnt have a "UP" stamped in it. I just finished re-torquing the head bolts and still it smokes. IF it was the headgasket woudnt it smoke consistently? Because it only smokes when I start the car and only for like a couple of seconds. I'm going to pull off the head tomorrow, I just want to be sure what to look for. Any ideas. Thanx

Well I heard that they were interchangeable. Is it true? I just need a steel head gasket and I coudnt find any for a D16A6. Care to shine some light? Thanx

go to a honda dealer and ask to see both. and compare..

I think they may be different because of oil passages due to vtec.. but who knows.

also check part numbers.

Yeah I checked the headgasket previously before I changed them, and they were identical. I'm pretty sure its the valve stem seals and the valve guides, but I also have my doubts. This suck, when everything seems to be doing good something always has to happen
