you do not have to use the crank sensor at all
and the y7 does have a boss (hole) for the sensor if i want to put it in the y7 block
ill simply take it outta my y8
these blocks are identical....the pistons are a little different...thats all
spent all day yesterday finding this out
ls/vtec owners dont use knock sensors and do just fine

I have worked on several OBD 2 cars and my knowledge of OBD 2 systems will kill that "theory" that you don’t need the crank sensor on an OBD 2 car. Hell my ------- sol was OBD 2a and so is another friends sol that I have converted a D16z6 to run OBD 2 ECU's as well as B series ECU's. You need that sensor with any and I mean ANY OBD 2 ecu. Sure I can take a few sensors out and the car will still run but it won’t run correct.

the sensor is built into the oil pump i Believe.

without this sensor your ecu will throw a CEL and go into LIMP mode...

I believe we're talkin about the crank flux sensor on the oil pump If not.. im pretty sure that's what Onyx and I are under the impression.. the previous posts lead me to believe we should be talkin about the CFS.
