why not just sell your ECU and buy an obd1 vtec ecu?

That is properly the best way. Get a P28 OBD1 ecu. Its easier and cheaper and if you screw up soldering the new pieces in then you will have to buy another ECU anyway Plus the P28 ECU has a gas cutoff of 7500 RPM and a better fuel curve.
