Need to retard timing for a ZEX 65 shot???
I'm gonna be installing a ZEX kit on my NA Y7 pretty soon and wanted to know when i need to retard my timing....i know it'll be fine for a 55hp shot but what about a 65 or a 75? Can I even run a 75 shot on my Y7? For those of you wondering, I'm going nitrous because I'm moving out next week and need to sell my turbo kit (%95 done too dammit!)
If I run 91 octane and only use the 75 hp shot over 4000RPM do I need to retard the timing? If so then I think i'm gonna junk the nitrous plans too.

55 shot = stock timing
65 shot = retard 2 degrees
75 shot = retard 4 degrees
If you run a 75 shot you will want to at least upgrade your fuel pump or you will most likely run lean. I run a 55 shot quite a bit on stock settings...seems to do damn well :P 14.89 in the 1/4 in a pig (98 ex coupe) Oh yeah did I mention stock steelies on POS tires?

the retard is to prevent pinging, best way would be to put it on a dyno with a wideband and see if you lean out or hear pinging.
if you run zex plugs (or any other very cold plugs), 91 or race gas, and have an afc to tune with you prob wont need to retard at all if you dyno tune.
