---- ... so my car has been running great, no electrical problems... then yesterday I came home from work to find my car dead in the commuter lot. Jumped it and it worked great. Got it home, this morning battery was dead. Jumped it for 10 seconds, started it up and drove to the lot again. When I get off the bus today, there is no one else there since I take the last bus on a Friday... so I am going to have to walk to auto zone and grab a new battery... is this signs of a dead battery or a dead alt? No previous signs of ANY kind, thats what has me confused...

 

If it ran fine after a jump then the battery is dead. If the alternator was dead it would die while your driving it, because there would be no 12v being generated. Yeah sometimes batteies just take a ---- like that. Battery in my dad's old T100 did that fine yesterday next mouning put the key in the ignition and not even a ------- click.

 

yup battery. probably took a ---- becouse its so ------- hot lately. heat kills those *******

 

If it was your alt, you would have noticed the battery slowly getting less and less charged. I'd go for the battery too.

 

its your rats nest of ecu wires on the floorboards, or you have a bad diode in something leaking +12v to a ground

 

It's not a ratsnest anymore. we cleaned it up and soldered instead of all the twisted wire and tape.

You can check it though, if you get a little charge on your battery. Disconnect the positive terminal and attach a amp meter in from the cable to the battery terminal. You can see if anything is leaking your battery to ground, or if the battery just sucks.

 

turns out my brake lights never turn off. I just unplugged it and will trouble shoot today. problem kinda solved. thanks sweet hearts.
