Default Need Help with GSR Swap

Hey everyone... I just recently got a deal on a 96 gsr swap. I want to put it into a 94 civic dx. Ive been searching but cant find a straight answer to this. People tell me I can just run the ecu jumper harness for obd1-obd2a. Some people say change over my distributor, alternator, injectors to obd1. And Ive also been told to just hook up an obd1 gsr ecu (p72?). Does anyone have an answer to this? Appreciate it!

Just put the motor in with the 96 harness/dizzy/injectors and alt. Then use an obd1 p72 and you will be set.

So my whole 96 GSR swap is direct bolt in, I just need to swap out the ecu for an obd1?

No...it's not bolt in. Mounts are all going to be different, shift linkages are shorter, etc. I'm pretty sure the entire harness has to be changed as well, just use the original civic harness and add the pieces you need (i.e. knock sensor, spool solenoid, oil pressure switch). The idea of using the obd1 p72 is a sound idea, or you can chip a p28 as well. Don't forget the distributor has to be changed from an obd2 unit to obd1 as well.

You will need most of the gsr motor mounts. I hope you have them because they're a real pain in the *** to find for cheap. Honda-Tech gobbles them up like Ryan Champ gobbles up ****!

I have an eg sitting in my driveway with a 98gsr motor. Gsr mounts and shift linkage. It has the whole obd2 harness. All we had to do is wire in vtec, vtec oil pressure and ground to the ecu. Its running a chipped p28 now but it was running a p72. This is the third obd2 b series that has been in the car.

i have done plenty of swaps and can show you pictures if you would like of an EG with an obd2 engine harness on a 98 gsr running all of the obd2 stuff like dizzy/alt/injectors. i have got 94 and 99 gsr shift linkage sitting in my garage that are exactly the same. So if you say that the shift linkage is diffrent then what linkage does he need?

umm 90-01 teg shift linkage works fine they all have worked I checked the lenghts and they are fine. as far as your swap goes. use your dx harness and mod it for the knock sensor if you will run one and the vtec oil presssure and spool valve. you can use your obd2 dizzy just cut the plugs from you dx engine switch it with the gsr's use a gsr rear trannny top tranny and ac bracket and timing belt that should be it. enjoy
