The car came to life at 85pm this evening!!

Fired up without hesitation, No suprise engine lights. The brakes lights arent working yet, we suspect a faulty brake switch, but will know soon.

Whats to come?

-Finish up the balance of the electrical, get the rear brakes and clutch hydraulics complete

- send the car out for an exhaust and modify the fuel cell so we can actually get gas in the thing reasonably well

- then its paint and body work, install the glass

-tune the thing with the new cams, springs, retainers, ITBs and nitrous

...and i havent forgotten about the vid. I couldnt hear myself think when i got it running and with having to watch my laptop and spotting for leaks and fires, trying to deal with a camera wasnt very plausible.

the way i see it, you should always concentrate on vids for the first power up. that way if there happens to be a leak and it burns to the ground, you have it running on video

running about a month behind. still sitting at the fab shop getting some things changed. no big deal. wanna get this ---- done right. decided to make one major change that will take a while to figure out.

road worthyness has been delayed. We decide to gut and tube the back half of the car. The suspension the car came with in the back was absolutely horrific. So its all getting cut out and new steel be welded in and a new partial tube back end being fitting in to replace the ---- that was half *** welded in there previous to us buying the shell.

The exhaust is all done and looks amazing. Deserves to be up on a wall, than underneath a car. ill get some pics of that tomorrow.

we had a new engine mount fabbed up for the front of the motor. the one that came with the mount kit was a flimsy pos that i wanted to change as soon as i had the motor in there. we also reworked the shift bucket assembly so the mount looks alot nicer and service friendly.

as promised, here are some more pics

exhaust pics wish i had some of them in the car, but the fabricator took some before dropping it back on the ground. waiting for him to email me. it hugs the floor nice and tight.

Shot of the quality of the welds

remounted shift box. Much nicer and cleaner look. way more service friendly.

rear axle out and the old shock mounts cut off and ground clean ready to weld up the new tabs for the coilovers.

the old birdshit welded radius arms.

the old shock mounts that were welded to the axle

shot of the driver side corner where the radius arm use to hook into.
the welds that you can see in the pic are the only thing holding those tabs on. There are no welds on the back side of those tabs. one good hit with a min sledge and they busted right off.

same as above but on the pass side.

basically all of that is gonna get cut out and new steel going in. Tubes are gonna come out from the rear x-brace, through the rear firewall and down to where the old radius arm tabs are located. there will be a bar going across the car that will get tucked into the sheet metal that will essentially box in the back and have bars going in to triangulate the rear box to tighten everything up. The new radius arm tabs will tag off the rear tubes instead of the flimsy tabs.

more pics to come.

Awesome build. Ol' Pops used to always say you can do anything with a car whenever you've got a cutting torch and a welder.
