I didnt conjur up the idea for the project, nor can i take credit for that one. The owner of the car is in his late 40's, single, total car nut and he missed his old minor from his younger days and decided to build some nut bar track version.

The inital discussion was for a B16b i had kicking around with a B16 trans, cam, ITB's, exhaust, etc. a good solid NA build with a bit of juice perhaps. All the while he had a authentic 60 cooper S that he was gonna stuff it in. But with the car being a real cooper S, he had a hard time chopping it up, so he sold the 60 shell and found this 78 shell and started to tear it up. The car was a steal at 1800 cdn dollars. The car came painted, with new floor boards and not a spot of rust.

When i started to tear the car down, it was time to decide on a frame and motor combo and the guys at super fast mini's were getting ready to release their K-series frame kit. The owner had seen the K power plant swapped into a EG chassis that we rally and decided that he would like to try that route and went for a low miler k24. From there, it kinda got out of hand.

The only reason i took it on is bc the customer is really close friend of mine and im under no deadline to finish it. it gets done when it gets done. It makes it more appealing to me that way as well.

more updates to come this weekend.

Its all the purpose of the car. RWD = drag racing, more power, quick car. or FWD = road course, nice day driver while maintaining classic appearance, and still a quick car.

Dont mind the ---- in the short shorts.

All depends on the purpose of the car.

I VOTE FRONT PAGE!
This is some of the cleanest HMT work I have seen yet! Keep us updated.

The owner wants to autoX/road race the car as far as im aware. Im sure it will end up going to the drag strip at some point, but he's building it to have a good time in it primarily. I dont think he has a set focus as long as he beats on it at some sort of motorsports event.

updates: The motor is back in, squared up and not getting moved again. ITB's are installed, injectors in and wired, engine harness modified and the general routing is figured out. Body harness up to the firewall is complete. Dash and Dash harness is complete. Axles are in, Shift Box and linkage cables are in, Hydraulic clutch line is assembled, front brake lines are made up and run up to the wilwood pedals. Fuel pump is mounted and wired up.

Still have a bunch of little stuff to finish, but we should have it running in a couple weeks.

front body harness which needs to be completed

dash wiring complete with fuse box, dash and Hondata Kpro mounted.

Tight clearances between header and firewall.

no clearance between vtec solenoid and firewall. Will need to remove vtec solenoid shield to gain the clearance needed.

more pics to come.
