It works fine... high compression due to small combustion chambers in the y7 head. please search before asking....

Is swapping a Y7 NON VTEC head a common swap on an A6? I have never heard of anyone doing this.

no, not real common, and not technically a mini-me...
I actually run a d15b2 block with a shaved y7 head for a higher compression road race NA setup. It works really well, and I don't have do mess with vtec tuning. There is a mis-conception that y7 heads have the same chambers as the y8 heads, which is incorrect, they actually have the same volume as the z6 heads (I believe); the valves are bigger and the flow is better than the 4th gen heads though (D15B1/D15B2/D16A6 all have the same casting, just different cams). I got my head for $5, and it was definately worth the money.
