JDM B16a SiR II LSD Going Bad?
Hey, I have a 92 Civic H/B with a JDM B16a SiR II motor. and my question is how would i know if the LSD on the transmission is going bad or not? Would it show any signs? I see oil leaks but not sure where it's coming from. I took my car over to a shop and they say that the reason why whenever i turned or U turn. I hear this noise. And that whenever I turn there's minor gaps between the transmission (where the axles/interm. shaft goes in) and leaks oil. Not sure if it's true or not. So therefore I wanted to ask you guys and see if you guys can help me out. Instead of paying $900 for another B series transmission. I'm not sure if the rear mount has anything to do with it. But instead of the B series engine bracket/mounts. I'm still using the D series rear engine bracket/mount. Let me know! Thanks!

hey, I had a jdm zc hydro trans on my d16z6 w/ an LSD. It too made a wierd noise when I turned. It wasnt super loud but loud enough for me to know it was there. but most people say its normal. never had oil leaking though. maybe your seals are bad?? just a guess. what axles are you using.

Is there anything cracked on the bottom of the tranny? Perhaps you have raced it (or other people) and somehow ruined the seal in the tranny. Its just gasket sealant between the tranny housing and the clutch cover. Also change your tranny oil (10w-30 motor oil) and see if it has flakes of metal in it. If it does.. its time for a new tranny.

no cracks, it's just a little bit of oil i see. the last time i change my tranny oil no metal flakes was there. i'm using Del Sol VTEC Intermediate Shaft with Acura Integra Axles. The other side is from a Honda Del Sol Axle.
I dont think anything is wrong with my tranny. Every gears goes in smoothly. And it does not slip or anything.

It could be your LSD then.. How are your axels? Are they still in one piece? Not clicking? I have had a noise like you are describing but it was from the inner CV boot running agents my exhaust hanger when turning. Make sure it isn’t running on anything and if the tranny is leaking oil you will need to re-gasket it. The LSD also contains some sort of fluid (from what I have read) that lets it engage and what not. Not as responsive as welding your diff together
