Double check your throttle cable, make sure its not to tight. Also next when your car is warm, take off the upper intake pipe, and you will see 2 holes (orifaces) in the throttle body. (assuming its a b-series, or 92+) place your finger over 1 of the holes at a time and see which one is sucking. You can narrow it down to if its your Idle air control valve cranking the idle up, or its the FIT valve (shown below)

To repair the fit valve..

Also check for Vac leaks, spray carb cleaner all on the intake manifold, around the throttle body gasket etc etc.

did you do what I said about putting your finger in the throttle body to isolate which idle unit is causing the problem?

BITCH VALVE = FAST IDLE THEMAL VALVE

if you dropped ur car a lot with cheap shocks it will bounce like ---- and it might cause the biggo plastic bolt(valve) inside that thing to come loose, which keep on letting air in and ***** with ur idle.
take it out kinda tighten it, if cold idle became too low loosen it a bit until u hit the right cold idle.

man but 3K ?
i`d say it is a vaccume leak somewhere..

yea, my car is doing that too, D16Y8 with a PM6 and Z6 intake manifold... idles at 3000 whenever the motor is cold, just started doing this like a month or 2 ago after a botched turbo attempt.... when it warms it drops to bout 700-800 rpm idle..
