Re: Headgasket now, ARPs later?
One more question, and I know this has been asked before but I haven't seen a definite answer yet.
What the hell is the difference between the Z6 and Y8 headgaskets? Obviously the Y8 one is about $20 cheaper, but they are both MLS, are they not?
Will I encounter any problems trying to save a few pennies by buying the Y8 gasket?

do it right the first time and save some trouble the coz is not just the part itself, think about towning and stuff.
.
Z6 and y8 gasket are exactly the same.( i don`t care what ppl think, LOL i`ve bought both from HONDA) they are about 40 bucks max at any part store.

z6 and y7/y8 headgaskets are exactly the same, just different part #'s
both are metal 3 layers, both are the same thickness.
y8 had an option somewhere for a 2-layer, I've never found or seen one tho.

Y8's a cheaper gasket, definatly go for it. Headstuds are nice to have, but if your on a budget, spray your head gasket with Copper Gasket spray on both sides, and overtorque your head 5-10lbs. I'm using a composite gasket on my ZC with copper spray on stock headbolts boosting around 21-22psi so far no problems.
Alot of the problem people get with D-series they think their heads are lifting and blowing out headgaskets, when normally its the sleeves are shifting and blowing the gasket out. Just keep that in mind, its incredilby easy to post/pin a block you should definatly consider it.

Anyways, this block supposedly has a blockguard so I really hope it's just a problem with the headgasket. The car runs fine N/A, but when I boost is when it starts to overheat and you can see where coolant has spilled out just above the engine code where the block/head meet.
