Headgasket now, ARPs later?

Since I'm low on cash, I was thinking of just installing the headgasket now and seeing if it will hold fine under boost with the stock head bolts. If the head ends up lifting because I reused the stock bolts, is it easy to just install the ARPs without taking the head off?

You need to replace the head gasket if you untorque the head.

just do a hg now with the stock bolts, give em 5 extra lb-ft.

later when you wanna do the ARP's, hold off until you can toss an extra $30 down on a headgasket. Get the y7/y8 gasket from slhondaparts.com or hondaautomotiveparts.com and i think they end up being right about $30 shipped.

As long as the head doesn't move when the head bolts are removed it should be ok to reuse HG. It's just much easier to do it all now.

All of the headgaskets on those sites are like $150, where are you seeing them for $30? Hook me up I'm broke! And I was looking up a 98 Civic EX, there are 2 headgaskets listed. Which one do I want?

Thanks, I kept looking under the "gasket kit" category and not the cylinder head category.
