Question H23+VTEC Head= H22?

Hi, Im new here and dont have a Honda yet, but the answers I can get would help me decide in getting a 95 Prelude SI. The motor on the Lude is a H23a I believe, but I was wondering if it is possible to swap the head over from the H22 VTEC thats in the other Ludes and get that to work fine. Also are the blocks for the H22 and H23 the same and the displacement is just a little larger on the H23? Are the parts, like a head gasket, interchangable on the H22 and H23? Last question, what are the main differences between the 2 motors other than VTEC? Thanks for reading my long post.

h23 has lower compression, non vtec.
same block, different crank/pistons.
vtec head is swapable.. id say buy a new h22 is u want one they are cheap enough.
or buy a f20b. higher compression, a bit lower torque, 200hp and higher redline.

Thanks guys. Dont have the cash for an entire engine swap, so my plan is to rebuild the H23 maybe swap heads, and drop on a turbo.

look up h22 turbo.. bad idea.. for thesame reason the h23is a bad idea.. if u wanna turbo. get a F22. out of the "cheaper" lude. they dont have the same turbo hating cylinder walls. and are more boost friendly.
i suck at explaining things. but look it up.

ok, but like I said I dont have the money for any kind of engine swap, but I would be making a built block, with ductile walls, lower comp pistons, head work, and low end. i dont know how much boost/hp the stock H23 block can handle, but people look down on us Scion tc guys saying the engine cant handle, but the block can handle up to 15 psi, and most guys are at 300+ daily driven. Thanks for the help guys

but the cylinder walls in the h series arent like other blocks. they are frm i think.. fiber reinforced matrix or something.. they are strong.. but the pistons used with them are not.. u wouldnt last long on stock pistons.. and because of the cylinder walls, u cant use any aftermarket pistons. plus to rebuild as u said. u would need to pull the block anyway.. for the price of a set of aftermarket pistons you could buy a f22. and you wouldnt have to pay a machine shop for anything. it would be a direct bolt in swap.

just sayin. and ppl running 300+whp on those motors ALL DAY LONG

hmmm ok. not tryin to argue, but couldnt you get aftermarket pistons with the same bore, or maybe slightly bigger, and be ok?

no.. because of the cylinder wall material, there is a company that makescompatible pistons, mahle gold series. but they are gonna cost you about 500$(wich have mixed reviews anyway) and if you are gonna do pistons, it doesnt make sense to use the stock rods, so there is another 250.... at this price u coulda bought a f20b or a f22 and still had a few hundred left over.
in my opinion. f20b would be a good swap. a bit less torque. same hp as h22. but its boost friendly. and with the higher redline.. i just think would be a blast

I own a F22 accord and the motors are a dime a dozen. If you check your local junk yards im sure they will have at least one or two. The single over head cam is great for boost cause they have a good flowing head on them. Bisimoto is runnin one in his honda insight drag car and he makes tons of cheap parts for them to boost the power that they can handle.

If you want more info on the F22 or even the H22/H23 go to cb7tuner.com and they have tons of info on just about everything you can think of. A lot of those guys on there boost the F22 and have had great success in doin so.
