Default first time puting in pistons, need help

This is my first time swapping in new pistons and a quick question. I put the pistons in and oil them up real good. When i turn the crank the pistons leave a small straight line of oil from the rings about 1/16 of an inch, in each cylinder. Is this normal?

Sometimes I use wd-40. And he's right, your rings need to be staggered so that no gap lines up with another...usually like a 45* angle for each one.

there should be no lines form oil anywhere on the cylinder wall, stagger your rings properly according to the manual.

Edit: Before you ---- things up, this is how its not done (scroll to very bottom of the PDF)

http://www.jepistons.com/pdf/piston_instrc4032.pdf

Note in the PDF where the wrist pin centerline is, you should never put a ring gap on a center line or 90* to either side of one where it would be meeting the cylinder wall with full force as the engine is rotating.

The First compression ring gap and second compression ring gap are incorrect, everythign else is correct, I would place the compression ring gaps 45* from the centerline on oppisite sides of the piston away from each other.

Look in the honda manual, it will tell you exactly how to do it, and it is correct.

its probably just oil thats on the piston leaving the trail. personally i wouldnt use motor oil like that, you will foul the plugs on the first start up, and not to mention FUBAR your o2. use something lighter like atf next time.
