Default ecu chipping. first time, help me!

well since i got no good responses from my last thread im considering chipping my own ecu. what exactly do i need? a list would be great and maybe a short rundown on what chip i need to remove to add the socket, im using an obd-0 pr4 ecu so any helpful replies would be much appreciated. thnx fellas. peace -mike

thnx nick ill be reading those very soon. anybody have a list of parts? maybe there's a list on the links but i dont have time to check now so ill check it out later until then anymore and all help is appreciated. peace -mike

you need an EEPROM (27c256, 29c256, etc.) and a 28 pin socket (preferably a ZIF socket). Holding the ecu with all the printing on the chips right side up, look in the bottom right hand corner. You will see IC1 printed on the board, and the chip should have OKI and a 65 printed on it. Desolder that bitch and drop in your ZIF.

ok after a lot of reading i decided to go with a 27c256 and a ZIF thru hole socket but now i need to know what burner will work for these. i somebody can find one for sale on ebay or sell me one of their old ones or whatever please let me know so i can start the hands on learning process.thnx guys mike

If i were you i would go with a 29c256, unless you wanna have to use a UV light everytime to erase the chip. Anyway, do a google for Batronix or Willems. Both are great burners.

thnx streetkings i appreciate all the help you have given me its been very helpful. so i'll be going with the 29c256 chip then, thnx for clarifying. and ill check batronix and willem on google.
