the VX head doesnt really have VTEC like the EX does. all it does is make the car run in 12 valve "lean burn" mode until 3000 rpm or so, then it kicks into 16 valve mode.

swap the rockers on with the cam. plug in the p28 ecu and bingo!

FYI, i think the VX uses a 5-wire o2, EX uses 4-wire, may need to change it.

I have the Vx motor, and I am building it up. but there are a few more differences between the Ex and Vx heads besides the cam. The Ex has bigger valves for one and the combustion chamber is shaped differently because the Vx pistons are dished while the Ex pistons are domed. while the Vx has a slightly higher compression ratio. I am not too sure on the cam profiles of either head. one thing the heads have in common is the EGR routing, THEY BOTH HAVE IT. so that makes you wonder if they are the same head.

if you have a Vx motor the first, and I mean THE first thing you need to do to get some power is to go pick up an Ex intake manifold because the Vx intake is like a straw and it is way too restrictive. then look into getting an ECU tuned to run it because any ecu besides the p07 runs it like crap.

The coolest thing about the Vx motor is very little know but it very very important. It has the second most sound bottom end only under the B16. This is due to the fact that it is a D16 block with a D15 crank in it. therefore allowing it (with proper head work) to rev to 10g.

id like to see that......also brett you are a bitch. its not the motor thats slow its the ---- *** tranny with terrible gearing that makes it slow. my lil bro has a vx, we put a dx tranny in it and its almost 2wice as fast
