Default Eagle Rod advice.

I got a set of used eagle rods from a friend of mine for my Z6. Everything is standard, but i have a little problem to deal with. The number 2 rod has a semi deep scratch on the long part of the rod and when you but the bottom end on, on the bottom journal, you see that the metal was messed up alittle. I don't have a digital camera, but i can describe it to you. You know when you put a dowel into a hole, it should go in and stay flush. Like the water pump on the honda. Well, the rod end cap won't fit in easily. I don't wanna force it. Can a shop fix and small damaged on rods like eagle or should i buy one new from eagle? The rest of the rods are good. Last thing is that the polished metal on the journals are crosshatched and looks like it has wear. Is this common with used interals? I plan on using new bearings over those journals, will i be ok or should i have them polished again?

the crosshatching on the rod journal is probably from a spun bearing. this damage shouldn't give u any problems. as for the rod cap not sitting flush, i'd get a new rod. the strongest part of your motor should be your rod bolts, and if the cap isn't on right it will be the end of that motor.

True, my friend who builds engines says that the rod can be worked on, but would cost less to buy a new one form eagle. So, if i were to replace the rod bearings like i should, i will be ok as far as the cross hatchings on the rod journals? Or should i have the journals polished up again?
