If you have a dx, you're gonna need to do the mpfi swap, then put the whole y7 motor into the car, and put all of the sensors from your original motor into the new motor. Obd0 only needs to read the given sensors that it has, so if your motor has 120 sensors, and your obd0 wiring harness and ecu only want 5 sensors, than plug those in and your car will be singing cumbuya.
Not sure if your distributor will bolt up to the y7 head, but this is hmt, so I'm sure you'll figure something out. My y8 into my 89 hf was cake. I had one temp. sensor looking thing that originally plugged into the hf intake manifold that there wasn't a spot for on the y8 intake manifold, so I left it unplugged and my car didn't give a ----.
