Ya man, where just having a little fun. Take it easy. I'm no skilled mechanic, but if that's the new way of changing a clutch let me know. But dam i can't stop laughing. Yo u made my day. I haven't laughed like this all weekend. I don't even take out my axle from the rotor when changing a clutch/tranny. I pop it out from the tranny so i can drop the tranny out. But that's my way of doing it. Doesn't mean it's the best way.

Clutch job? Unbolt the tranny, get under the car on a creeper and put it on your chest and slide out, then slide back in and put the tranny back in. The guys that said they can't do that should go to the gym ;)

I'm not saying pulling the engine is hard either, but jesus why even waste the time doing all of that? Not to mention you have to replace the coolant, rebleed the system, risk ------- up connectors and breaking the TPS when pulling it out.

It's a 10mm 12pt socket btw, and you should have atleast cleaned up your flywheel w/ a rolac disc before you put it in.

::)

Pullin an engine is way harder. Droppin a trans is way easier in my opinion. Oh well everyone has there own style

i would say that for some people pulling the trans is harder, even though doing the motor is more work (but easier work i guess)

That's what I'm saying. More work, but it's all easier work that doesn't require crawling on the greasy ass ground struggling with a 75lb. tranny.

I pulled the tranny out of my parts car, I just dropped the whole motor/tranny assembly on the floor then dragged it out with my tow rope, it was fun.

I am, but the hourly guys in are shop still don't pull engines when doing tranny jobs.

Bullshit, your still on the ground just as much. You still have to take the axles out, you still have to take the shift linkage off, and you have to take the exhaust off.

Man, maybe I should do a "flat rate" how-to on how to R&R a damn clutch set, jesus ::)

even though you're being sarcastic, i would like to see that write up ;D i'm sure it's a lot less work to not pull the engine, but every time i've done a clutch, i had the engine out for something anyways, but i don't plan on pulling my engine again any time soon and have never dropped just the tranny, i would like to see the tricks, b/c it seems like it would be a pita to me :P

only "trick" i can think of: leave the axles in the hubs and just pop the lower ball joint on each side and take out the bolt holding the strut in so you can swing the axles out of the way. This keeps you from having to bust out the impact gun and ------- with axle nuts
