Alright im in the process of doing the vitara/tt rods.. D16y8.. Please tell me I dont have to take out the crank or engine to notch this beotch.

alright I just checked and its ------- far up there.. I would need a drill bit with a 8 inch ------- neck on it.. Or whatever you call it.. Now I gotta check some places for the proper tool.. I will keep you guys posted.. Let me know if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Pull the motor... do it right once. More steps? yes. Easier individual steps? yes. Plus you can take ---- off, clean and prep things on your feet rather than laying on ur back.

^^ loLz, and I thought welding exhaust pipes on a creeper with half a dozen jack stands hold up the car and the exhaust was a bitch!

Anyone else done it with the engine and crank in the car?

I just did mine last night, crank out for sure, I dont see how it could be done with it in there, nor would I want to. There will be THOUSANDS of little peices of metal that will fly off, that will eat the hell out of you're bearings.

Edit: I brought my block to the machine shop today to have it hot tanked just to be sure to get it cleaned up good.

OK man I new to the D series build since I've always gone with the big daddy H22A"JDM 10.6:1", so I have a friend thats got a Ls with a type R piston and rods in it and he been askn me many qustions about the tt rods. Whats rods are they actually from? Please help a rookie out on the D series build/B18B swap if it's possible. :P
