Re: Biscuit's Engine Build Thread HELP!! No oil pressure when cranking

Im no genius and im not sure what effect it will have if any, but in one of those first pics you have two of the rods facing one direction (look at the bearing tangs) and two facing the other.

I just hope the bearing doesnt fully rely on that tang to stay in place as far as rotation is concerned since two would be facing the wrong way and would have the rotational force (not sure how much there actually is) pushing against the angled side versus the flat part. not sure if that made sense O0

Holy ---- i never noticed that :3 when i put the caps on the rods i made sure that the serial numbers were on the same side. I just cant remember if all of the rods were facing the right way. Hope this doesn't become an issue...

Low compression n/a motor for the win ;) I can't wait to get the engine broke in and the turbo installed.

I don't *think* that would matter because the cap should be installed with the it's bearing tang on the same side as the rod tang. (IIRC) so I doubt any kind of rotational stress would cause the bearings to go wonky.

Guess time will tell.

Did you have to remove material from the girdle? I didnt touch my girdle and everything seemed to clear just fine, I've been running it for a year and so far no big problems besides blowing headgaskets.

I had to hack the ---- out of my girdle. I ground metal off of it three times before it would clear the rod bolts. It seems that z6 engines don't need as much clearance on the girdle.

Any particular reason why? I'm just curious because this is my first build. ;D
