I think it all depends on what state you are in. I could put a 350 chevy motor in my car with a double pumper and still be ok.

ok well. if your model civic's wiring is anything like a EX or HX , the B16A2 goes in your car really easy..but unless you have the harness that connects into the ECU, get a GSR computer..it will plug right into the factory harness...WAIT...you have a obd1..so i have noooooo clue.

If you get a complete swap w/eng. trans. axles shift linkage and ecu. The only things I had to do on mine is to add the vtec wires, and plug right in. Mine already had a 4 wire O2, but I don't think you have one...so you will have to convert. The only other thing that sucks is that you need a USDM wiring harness. I was able to use the one from my CX....but I'm not sure how to set up the O2. Other than that, you should be good to go.

buy the way...if you still ahve the factory exhaust, it's WAY smaller than the header that is on the B16. You can jam it together just to get around town. But you will need to get something else that will fit. (EX or EX will work...sort of. The bends aren't in quite the same place. But it's alot cheaper to adapt that than to get another new system made.)

I just did my swap this weekend and here is my shopping list of additional parts ( b16A3 into a 92 DX hatch)
1) upper and lower radiator hoses from Delsol
2) Need to get a OBD1 distributor for B-series I think
3) Modify the TB to accept my Map sensor vacum line.
4) Modify Intake manifold for that white sensor that came on my SOHC intake manifold.
5) Swap Alternators and belt
6) Replace the throttle cable
7) Get GSR rear tranny mount bracket.
8) Swap and use GSR shift linkage.
After that tap my oil pan for my turbo return line and go BOOSTING ;D ;D ;D ;D I might just port the TB while I'm at it. :o
