Swap the brake pedal ARM ONLY as was said. There's a spring at the very top of the brake pedal that is a bit of a bitch to get back in because it's so high up there. It helped me to take the gauge cluster out and get it from the top. Leave the gas pedal and that whole assembly in the car. Swap just the arm on the brake.

Re: auto to 5spd question
If i remember correctly an Ek is a 96-00 inwhich you'll have to deal with a hydro clutch if that's the case? My car's a 93 and I just grabbed a 5spd pedal assemble from a 91 civic because I wanted to save many hassle's and $$$ by going with a Cable tranny. I'm not sure about the newer civic'c(96-00) but in my case I didn't have to pull the dash parts. Just the lower ones where you would kick them with your legs. In my case you'd have to drop the steering column and take all the pedal connections off (brake slave, gas cable etc)and then just loosen the bolts and pull it out. But getting back to your origional question you will have absolutely NO probs by driving an auto with a 5spd pedal assemble before the swap. Hope everything works out will for you. I did my ls/vtec swap at the same tume as going 5spd and I wish I would have thought about doing the pedal conversion beforehand

Re: auto to 5spd question
You have a cable transmission on your ls/vtec? You said your car was a 93, and unless you screwed something up in that statement, it sounds like your telling everyone they can use the 91 pedal in a 93, which you can't.

Re: auto to 5spd question
when i did the swap in my eg about september i just cut my brake pedal and put ni the clutch pedal. the hardest thing was the pedals they are in the worst stop and in a eg you deff need auto to manual mount
